Queer Music Festival / 24. bis 27. April 2025
Das ›Queer Music Festival‹ richtet das Scheinwerferlicht explizit auf queere Musik und Künstler*innen, die sich als schwul, lesbisch, bisexuell, transident oder non-binär identifizieren. Unter dem Motto ›Identität ist Realität!‹ reicht das Spektrum des 4-tägigen Programms dabei von Konzerten und Clubnacht, über Tanzkurs und Film, hin zu Lesung, Artist Talk und DJ-Workshop. Dabei immer im Fokus: Das Zelebrieren und Empowern queerer Identitäten, queerer Körper und vor allem queerer Musik.
Das Festival findet zum zweiten Mal in verschiedenen Leipziger Locations statt - darunter das UT Connewitz, die naTo, das Gewandhaus und die Neue Welle. Veranstalter und Kurator Zacker sagt: »Das Festival ist von der Community für die Community – und alle, die sich den dargebotenen Themen zugewandt nähern wollen. Es ist ein Festival für Queers jeden Alters und darauf bin ich sehr stolz. Dazu kommt, dieses Festival ist keine Utopie – es ist sehr real. Real fühlbar und unmittelbar erlebbar. Es lädt dazu ein, gemeinsam Normen zu hinterfragen und aufzubrechen, und schafft dabei eine inklusive Atmosphäre, die Queerness in all ihren Facetten zelebriert.«
Als Veranstalter, Herz und Motor des Festivals will Zacker Musiker*innen aus der LGBTQ*+-Community eine Plattform bieten und einen sicheren Raum schaffen, in dem sie ihre Stimmen erheben können, um ihre künstlerische Vision mit Gleichgesinnten und Allies zu teilen. Es geht darum, gemeinsam laut zu werden – in einer Zeit, in der Schweigen immer gefährlicher wird. Es geht um Sichtbarkeit – in einer Zeit, in der queere Menschen im öffentlichen Raum zunehmend wieder um ihre Sicherheit fürchten müssen.
»Brennende Pride-Flaggen und die landesweite Bedrohung von CSDs durch rechtsextreme Gruppen markieren einen beängstigenden Tiefpunkt, den wir überwinden müssen.Es fühlt sich an wie ein Rückschritt und beantwortet die mir häufig gestellte Frage, ob es im Jahr 2025 überhaupt noch ein explizit queeres Musikfestival braucht: Ja, das tut es!«
Zacker glaubt fest daran, dass ein Weg für die Gesellschaft darin besteht, Identitäten anzuerkennen, anstatt sie ständig infrage zu stellen oder zu bewerten – das ist seine Motivation. Es sind aber auch die persönlichen Geschichten, die geteilt werden. In einer warmen Atmosphäre voller Respekt, Wohlwollen und mit der Unterstützung des Publikums sowie der Künstler*innen untereinander: »Genau für diese magischen Momente lohnt es sich, dieses Festival zu veranstalten«.

Queer Music Festival / 24th – 27th April 2025
The ›Queer Music Festival‹ explicitly shines the spotlight on queer music and artists who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transident or non-binary. Under the motto ›Identity is reality!‹, the scope of the 4-day programme ranges from concerts and club nights, to dance classes, films, readings, artist talks and DJ workshops. The focus is always on celebrating and empowering queer identities, queer bodies and above all queer music!
The festival is taking place for the second time in various locations in Leipzig – including UT Connewitz, naTo, Gewandhaus and Neue Welle. Organiser and curator Zacker says: »The festival is by the community for the community – and everyone who wants to approach the topics on offer. It’s a festival for queers of all ages and I’m very proud of that. What’s more, this festival is not a utopia – it’s very real. Real, palpable and directly tangible. It invites one to question and break down norms together and creates an inclusive atmosphere that celebrates queerness in all its facets.«
As the organiser, heart and engine of the festival, Zacker wants to offer musicians from the LGBTQ*+ community a platform and create a safe space in which they can raise their voices to share their artistic vision with like-minded people and allies. It’s about speaking up together – at a time when silence is becoming increasingly dangerous. It’s about visibility – at a time when queer people increasingly have to fear for their safety in public spaces.
»Burning Pride flags and the nationwide threat to CSDs from far-right groups mark a scary low point that we need to overcome. It feels like a step backwards and answers the question I’m often asked whether an explicitly queer music festival is still needed in 2025: Yes, it is!«
Zacker firmly believes that one way forward for society is to recognise identities instead of constantly questioning or judging them – that is his motivation. But it is also the personal stories that are shared. In a warm atmosphere full of respect, goodwill and with the support of the audience and the artists themselves: »It is precisely for these magical moments that it is worth organising this festival«.
